How the service works
-
Match and review
The service uses lecture details in the portal to match Zoom recordings, summaries and transcripts. Authorized staff review recording and transcript information.
-
Upload privately
Lecture videos are uploaded to the university YouTube channel as Private. Staff review them before approving playback through the portal and app.
-
Organize by lecture term
The service creates private playlists for each course, semester and academic year recorded on the lecture. A delayed recording stays with its original lecture term.
Why do we request access to YouTube?
The university channel owner authorizes this connection. Students do not connect their personal Google accounts.
- youtube.upload
- Upload lecture videos to the university channel.
- youtube.readonly
- Verify the university channel and each video’s processing, privacy and playback status.
- youtube.force-ssl
- Google describes this permission as allowing viewing, editing and permanently deleting videos, ratings, comments and captions. The portal uses it to create private playlists and add lecture recordings to them.
Adding a recording to a playlist does not change its video privacy or approve student playback. The service does not automatically make videos or playlists public.
Google data used by the service
The portal stores the connected channel’s identifier and title, video and playlist identifiers and status, granted permissions, and authorization tokens needed to operate the connection. It sends lecture video files and course and lecture metadata to YouTube for upload and playlist organization. It does not request Google account passwords or access Gmail or contacts.
The privacy policy explains data use, retention, staff review, withdrawal of access and requests to delete connection data. You can withdraw the connection through the portal or your Google Account connections. Lecture recording privacy policy
